The Three Stages of Facebook

Facebook Social Media MarketingSocial Media guru, Heraclitus, had it right over 2,000 years ago. The only constant is change.

Not long ago, Facebook made sweeping changes that incensed many. People talked about hitting the road and moving to Google +. In reality, one friend of mine on Facebook left. Let’s face it The Social Network isn’t going away.

Facebook seems to have three stages that people go through over and over again.

Stage One: I love Facebook!

Stage Two: Facebook made all these changes. I can’t figure out how to use Facebook!

Stage Three: Facebook is fun again now that I’ve gotten used to all the changes!

Things change all the time. When’s the last time you used a rotary telephone? Remember Laserdiscs? My point is the technology we use either suits our needs or it doesn’t. When it fails, some brilliant mind comes up with something that fits the bill or we adapt.

Why is Facebook the Teflon Don of social networks? Because it sure has it’s downfalls. My guess would be popularity. Ever been to a bad party with all your friends? Probably not. The reason is that people make the place.

So, until Facebook does something really egregious, heinous, or criminal (oh wait, they already did), I’ll see you at the totally lame party.
