Chrome Lets You Block Google Advertisers Sans Plugin

As the owner of Pan Galactic, a ppc agency in St. Louis, I spend A LOT of time on the internet looking at things that most people don’t ever notice. Yes, it may seem tedious and boring, but it’s what I’m paid to do, and I find it pretty fascinating!

This morning I noticed something interesting in Google Adwords. I clicked on an ad. Spent less than 5 seconds on the site, and then clicked back to the search results. Below is a screenshot of what I saw.

See the “Block all … ads”?!? I had no idea that Chrome would inherently let you do this.

Why would Google offer this functionality in it’s own product?

Is this something that we are going to see more of in the future?

Imagine if there were a huge social media protest against a brand, and people were instructed to block ads using this method. This situation could have a major impact!

Wondering if they’ll keep this in later versions of Chrome?
