Yes, Search Marketing (SEO & PPC) can save your failing business model. A few years ago, all we heard was the doom and gloom forecast over where the entertainment industry was heading. Everyone pointed the finger at the same place: Internet Piracy. Why pay for the cow, when you get the milk for free?
Flash forward to today, and we see a boom industry with growth written all over it. The one area still hurting is the middleman. Essentially, the “salesforce” of entertainment is getting hammered, even though sales, etc are on the rise. What can a poor record store do about it? Go digital.
If sales are taking a downward trend, one area to consider is how you deliver your content. Can you use the internet to facilitate getting your product into the hands of a consumer? Can you provide a free sample digitally that gets your possible consumer hooked? Let’s face it, in today’s digital world, everyone gives things away for free. Apple, not long ago, increased the length of it’s previews. Amazon lets you read a portion of their books. Many software companies let you download a free trial.
But what if you sell a service that can’t be delivered digitally? Send them a freebie or a coupon. For example, you own a chain of car washes. Put a coupon on your site for a free wash, or include it in your email marketing, or both! You own a restaurant. Invite people to a special tasting of your new menu. You own a hardware store. Send people free twist ties. Everyone can use twist ties!
The point is that you can’t keep playing the same old music if no one is listening. AND you have to be found. So what if you offer a free car wash, and your website is practically invisible to search. Optimize your site. Buy PPC ads that tout your offer. Run a Social Media ad campaign on Facebookfor your new menu tasting. Get the word out!
